About
Isthmus Renewables LLC (Isthmus) is a renewable natural gas (RNG) developer focused on the domestic agricultural, landfill and wastewater markets.
Isthmus is committed to consistent, repeatable results for farmers, waste management companies and municipalities looking to capitalize on near-term industry tailwinds.
In collaboration with an established U.S. RNG engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) firm, Isthmus facilitates a full end-to-end offering, which includes project development, financing, build-out and operation.
End-to-End Solution
Technical Development
Dedicated engineering firm solves for potential project concerns upfront, such as gas content and offtake logistics, leading to a more reliable and quicker path to first gas sales.
In-house Financing
We do not depend on third-party banks or project investors to fund construction, providing greater certainty and eliminating a time-consuming portion of the upfront process.
Turnkey Construction
Turnkey contract ensures projects are on time and on budget.
Ongoing Operation
Experienced EPC staff can offer high-quality operations post completion.

Generation
Biogas is typically produced via landfill recovery, wastewater treatment applications or biodigesters for both crops and manure.
RNG is a drop-in substitute for fossil-based natural gas, produced by either:
-
Upgrading landfill biogas to increase the methane content.
-
Gasification and methanation of solid biomass through anaerobic digestion of livestock manure (and subsequent upgrading).

As a Greenhouse Gas (GHG) reductant, RNG domestically enjoys credits and subsidies related to government programs focused on carbon reduction (i.e., the U.S. Renewable Fuel Standard and California Low Carbon Fuel Standard).
Global demand will similarly be driven by a push toward net zero emissions, aided by incentives.
